Cola Roast ~ 1992 Women’s Circle Home Cooking

The 1990s were also a time of adventure and experimentation. This recipe from 1992 Women’s Circle Home Cooking Light & Easy was a way to make the old fashioned meal modern and edgy.

Cola Roast

Serves 8-10

1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 (4-5 lb) bottom-round roast
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 ½ cups cola flavored soda
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons hot sauce

Combine salt, pepper and garlic powder; rub over surface of roast. Brown roast on all sides in vegetable oil in Dutch oven. Drain off drippings. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over roast. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 3 hours, or until tender.

    • discouraging how expensive meat is these days huh? We’re eating a lot more pasta and other foods to fill in. Thank goodness my husband hasn’t been shopping with me or my budget would be shot! (you know he puts contraband items like red meat in the cart!) lol
