Are you looking to add to your Adult Education program? Does your local writer’s group want to learn about self publishing? Are cooks in your area looking for new recipes? Is your cookbook club looking for a speaker?
I offer free classes at libraries, schools or other institutions within a 40 mile radius of Galion, Ohio.
The first class is titled: Apron Free Cooking, Convenience Cooking for You! This presentation is a hands-on cooking demonstration of a couple of recipes from my cookbook, Apron Free Cooking. I provide a two page handout that includes four recipes from the book as well as some cooking tips. The demonstration and discussion runs 45 minutes to 1 hour. Attendees of this class like the easy recipes and are looking to balance their time with their family’s nutritional needs.
The second class I offer is about how I self published my cookbook. Local writing groups seem to find this class especially interesting. The principles used in self publishing a cookbook apply to any sort of book, so this class has wide appeal. This one hour presentation covers three steps: Defining Your Dream, Picking the Right Publisher and Working with Your Publisher. I usually plan for 15 to 30 minutes of discussion after the presentation.
The response to these programs at the Galion Public Library was overwhelmingly positive. The attendance rate was 100% of registrants, the coordinator was pleased with participant survey responses and the local newspaper did a nice write up giving the library compliments on the program.

These classes are offered free of charge, and class dates are flexible. Ninety minutes is the optimal amount of class time for this presentation.
