Crockpot Beef Stew and Biscuits — 19 Comments

    • Sherri, I hate the thought of veggies wilting away and ending up in the compost bin. So I’ve started figuring ways around that tragedy. – thus the chop and freeze prep idea!

      • This may be a dumb question here, idk. Consider please that I am truly a cooking novice.. When going to use these frozen veggies, in a crockpot recipe let’s say, would you first need to defrost them? & Do the veggies really keep (well) in just regular freezer bags? This is blowing my mind, I hate wasting the cash and throwing stuff out! If I could freeze and actually use what I buy when I wanna?? Well, I’d be inclined to purchase more veggies, and sneak them in on the husband!

  1. Freezing prepped vegetables is such a great tip – it saves so much time later.

We dont have tinned biscuit in Australia but it takes no time to mix up a dough which would be so worth it for this tender beef!

    • Ange, as I was re-reading my post today, I had that same thought about a quick mix of scratch biscuits. They wouldn’t take any longer to “bake” than the packaged ones!

  2. Hi! I know I’m late to the party.. But, I’m making this today and I’ve been so looking forward to it. Growing up a friend’s Mom would make a similar dish every couple weeks.. Every one of her kids friends would gather up those nights when word spread it was a pot roast night! Poor Mom would have to feed an army of kids it was just that good! Now that I’m grown I’ve been looking for that recipe to match and here, I’m fairly certain, it is! Thanks for posting!
