Mason Jar Bean Soup Mix — 19 Comments

    • Edyta, Mason jars are one sale now! Garden canning time is the best time to get them. It seems like every store has some in stock. However, I’ve found them online at very reasonable prices all year long.

I tried this recipe before I gave them to others and my family all thought it was delicious. I did add about a tbsp of Chile powder and a little salt and then served with cheese. It went great with the cornbread. I think the water could have been cut back but it didn’t negatively affect the soup.

  2. I love this idea, but am unsure on the soup mix. Is it one package of onion soup mix per jar, or enough packets to make 1/2 cup of mix?

    • The packaged bacon bits I used have a shelf life defined on the label. Of course, they won’t last forever, but you would want to stay within the labeled guidelines. If you plan to use this recipe for extended shelf storage, leave the bacon bits out until you’re preparing the soup.
