Pineapple Smothered Chicken

Tangy and sweet, this easy to prepare dish has survived over time because it's delicious simplicity!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Shortening Butter, Margarine, Coconut Oil
  • 3 pound Chicken cut into pieces
  • 1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 8 ounce Pineapple chunks drained
  • 2 1/4 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Flour

Instructions

  1. Using a large skillet, melt the shortening and cook the chicken pieces until lightly browned. 

  2. Add Lipton Soup mix, drained pineapple and 2 cups water. 

  3. Cover and simmer, 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. 

  4. Remove chicken to serving platter. 

  5. Mix remaining 1/4 cup water with flour and stir into drippings in skillet.

  6. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened into gravy.  Pour over chicken and serve.
